The Christ Cathedral, hosted a spectacular evening on the 9th of December, gathering men and women of God across the globe, united by one specific purpose: to celebrate, Bishop Richard Aryee, on his 60th birthday! The atmosphere was one of intense love, gratitude and honour as many took to the stage to recount their individual experiences with Bishop Richard.
Bishop Richard has faithfully pastored the church from when he was sent by Bishop Dag Heward-Mills many years ago.
Bishop has birthed many children into the ministry who all spoke of how he had taken a special interest in them, loved them, and made them feel “seen”. True to Matthew 9:36, “when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.”
For some, Bishop had personally visited them and established them in the church. For many, he appointed them as pastors to serve in God’s house. And for all, Bishop has remained a consistent and faithful emblem of strength and fierce encouragement in the lives of many. Through Bishop Richard’s example, we learn that in order to build pillars in our church, we must all develop a shepherd’s heart; able to love both the great and the small. Bishop Richard is a shepherd who has understood the true meaning of leaving the ninety-nine for the one.
The evening was full of jubilation with ministration from the dancing stars and countless testimonies of those who had been blessed by the life and ministry of Bishop Richard. His diligent and earnest following of the Prophet, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, has inspired and stirred up loyalty in thousands across the world. Truly, blood makes us related, but it is loyalty that makes us a family.
The occasion was marked at the end with cake cutting from the various denominations. A real family spirit flooded the church as several who had not seen each other in years caught up in a time of fellowship, laughter and delicious cake!
The events of the evening were a testament to Bishop Richard’s ability to unify people under a banner of loyalty and love which transcends language, colour and country.
May God continue to bless Bishop Richard to cross 70, 80, 90 years with ease, declaring the works of the Lord! We love you, Bishop!
