Do you know that feeling? Excitement that wells up in the pit of your stomach waiting to explode on the big day! Well that big day came and yes the joy at the Greater Love Cathedral was explosive!!! The celebration of Bishop Sackey’s 60th birthday!!! What a blessing!
The celebration actually started a week to time with our social media handles awash with vibrant countdown flyers and videos. And then the clock struck midnight, the 12th of February 2022 – the D-day. We happened to be in an all night service but that didn’t stop our celebration. The flyers flew around and so did the heightened emotions of joy and excitement throughout the day and finally coming to a crescendo on Sunday.
The color for the occasion was red – not just because the next day was Valentine’s Day but especially because red is one of Bishop Sackey’s favorite colors.
Balloons, pop up stands, decor and a giant cake fit for a king.
The entire service was a full blast celebration, our hearts filled with gratitude to the Lord for the life of the man God used to plant and build the edifice we are blessed to call our Cathedral – Bishop E.A.T Sackey (the quintessential assistant to Bishop Dag Heward-Mills).
And though Bishop Sackey wasn’t with us physically due to his current assignment in Ibadan, Nigeria, he was definitely with us in spirit. A video of him expressing his gratitude to the church for honoring and celebrating him was definitely the topping on the cake. Seeing him and hearing his voice again was absolutely magical!
The service ended with singing, dancing, a cake cutting ceremony and picture-taking.
What an honor it was to celebrate 60 years of God’s goodness in the life of our Pastor, Teacher, Father and Counselor – Bishop E.A.T Sackey!
