Our focus on Asia segment in May took us to Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. This month we take a look at another branch in Bangladesh, Satkhira.
Satkhira is a district in southwestern Bangladesh and is part of Khulna Division. It lies along the border with West Bengal, India. It is on the bank of the Arpangachhia River.
Satkhira is famous for cottage industry like weaving, bamboo, cane work and potteries.
Apostle Toss Mills-Odoi, the Mission Head of Mustard Seed Chapel International, Bangladesh, sent Pastor Kay Kwao to start a branch in Satkhira in June 2017.
MSCI Satkhira grew rapidly by the Grace of God and under the guidance of Apostle Toss to a membership of about 50 people.
Pastor Kay pastored the Satkhira church from 2017 to 2018 after which Pastor George Aryeetey took over from 2018 to 2020.
Sister Leonora Hyde became the Head of the Bangladesh Mission in 2019, continuing to help build the Church in Satkhira.
Asia has been hardly hit by the pandemic and we look forward to a massive gathering of saints after lockdown.
