With heavy hearts and deep respect, we share the news of the passing of our cherished Bishop Kwasi Ampofo, known affectionately by many as Bishop Big Daddy. He was called to his eternal rest with the Lord in the early hours of Monday, June 9th. Bishop Big Daddy’s life was a testament to his unwavering faith, devoted service, and profound dedication to the Kingdom of God, Bishop Dag and the Lighthouse family, leaving an inspiring legacy for us all.
Bishop Kwasi Ampofo was a stalwart of the Dag Heward-Mills Ministries, faithfully serving under the leadership of Bishop Dag Heward-Mills. He was a trained architect but chose to serve as a full-time minister. With a heart full of passion and humility, Bishop Ampofo tirelessly labored day and night in the service of the great King, Jesus Christ.
He was known not only for his powerful preaching and pastoral care, but also for his hands-on leadership. As archbishop, he was behind the organisation of several consecration services, burial services of pastors and members, dedication of hundreds of community chapels and many more. Bishop Ampofo was a gentle giant who always on the move, ensuring that God’s people could worship in dignity and comfort.

“You fought a good fight, you finished your course, you kept the faith. Enjoy your crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to you” (2 Timothy 4:7-8). These words perfectly encapsulate the life and ministry of Bishop Ampofo. His example of love, joy, and commitment to God’s work will continue to inspire generations of pastors, church workers, and members.
We especially remember his selfless efforts in assisting Bishop Dag Heward-Mills with diligence and loyalty. His role in building churches and strengthening communities across Ghana and other parts of the world will never be forgotten.

We ask all members of the church and the Body of Christ at large to join us in prayer for the family of Bishop Kwasi Ampofo during this difficult time. May they be comforted by the love of Christ and the legacy of a life lived for His glory.
Indeed, “your labor in the Lord will never be in vain.”
Rest in perfect peace, Bishop Kwasi Ampofo. You have triumphed in Christ Jesus. We miss you already.
