The rich culture and history of Switzerland was on full display at the Qodesh, North Kaneshie on Sunday 29th September 2024.
The occasion – International Sunday!

This year’s was extra special!!! Switzerland was featured as the theme country, in honor of our father and founder’s dear mother, Mrs. Elisabeth Heward-Mills, who went to be with the Lord earlier this year.

The Qodesh was alive and vibrant! It was such a beautiful mix of church history (understanding the roots of our church in Switzerland which was started by the founder Bishop Dag Heward-Mills himself) and a delve into Swiss culture.

The elegant looking choir, dressed in traditional Swiss attire, treated us to delightful tunes rendered in French and English. The dancing stars also brought their A-game – agility, verve, and creativity.

The highlight of the day was the presence of the Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Simone Giger, who graced the occasion together with her family, her staff and a large Swiss community in Accra.

In her brief address, she commended the church for fostering unity through cultural appreciation, expressing her joy at being part of such a unique celebration.
The Ambassador and her team looked forward to tasting the variety of traditional and typical Swiss cuisine that qodeshians had prepared, and they were not disappointed at all! Their expectations were more than met!

The ambassador’s presence as well as the Swiss delegates added a touch of diplomacy and international recognition to this memorable day.

The Love Feast, a key and cherished component of International Sunday, brought the whole church together in a time of fellowship over shared meals. Everyone had the opportunity to indulge in traditional Swiss dishes, further immersing themselves in the theme of the day. From fondue to rosti, to Malakoff with salad, the Swiss delicacies created a tasty and memorable sampling experience.

The church auditorium, adorned with Swiss flags and symbols, reflected the beauty of Switzerland while celebrating its people and culture.

International Sunday at The Qodesh was a joyous occasion that not only brought Swiss culture to the heart of Accra but also strengthened the bonds of unity within the congregation, showcasing the church’s commitment to celebrating global diversity.
