Year in, year out, the Good Friday Miracle Service has always been marked with a gathering of all United Denominations churches at the Iconic Black Star Square situated at the coastal shoreline of Ghana. However after the break out of COVID in 2019, all such gatherings were suspended. The release of the Good Friday flier announcing that we could all gather once more as a church sent excitement running through the air in anticipation of this powerful Spirit-filled service with the world renowned Healing Evangelist, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills.
Good Friday Service 2022, Independence Square, Ghana
The sun was at post, slated high in the sky; scorching, unyielding, with a solemn tone and the Independence Square, filled to capacity with multitudes outside the Square pushing their way through, unwilling to miss the service of a lifetime!

At 3pm, the square came alive! The crowd clad in black and red to signify the death and mourning of Jesus, jumped out of their seats, moving rigorously to the melodious yet energetic praise songs! O, how we had missed this!
Right after, the innumerable company of dancing stars pulled up with an epic dance filled with so much enthusiasm and vigor. Close on the heels, the seven sayings of the cross, the last words of Jesus as he journeyed to Calvary, were read out by revered Men of God.
Then came the arrival of the Healing Evangelist, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills. The sermon, mind-blowing! The Sufferings of Jesus! The accomplishments of Jesus! Bishop Dag taught that a spiritual person should rather welcome the sufferings that Christ endured as an achievement and not something to run away from. He highlighted that Christianity comes with suffering, rejection, betrayal, contradiction of sinners and every Christian must be willing to carry this cross, just like our Savior Jesus Christ. This message was timely and served as a wake up call to Christians who have the mind that Christianity may be about happiness and prosperity only. We must bear in mind that Christianity is intertwined with suffering.
The call for salvation after this profound message was probably the climax of the service as thousands of people thronged forward to give their lives to Christ. What a great day to be saved!
Hebrews 2:4 says “And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose”. This is exactly what happened at the service! God confirmed the message of the prophet with a grand spectacle of healing of all types of diseases and the recording of hundreds of miracles.

We love Jesus because He first loved us; even to death, the death on the Cross. Thank you Bishop Dag Heward-Mills for always leading us on such a spirit filled adventure every year. We can’t wait for what next year has in store. May God give us Grace!
