It’s never out of season to celebrate one’s culture! The Makarios Church was “lit” with the celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day. Bishops, Reverends, Pastors and members arrived at church in Ghanaian traditional attire, creating a beautiful display of culture and harmony in the church. With such beauty, colorfulness, and vibrance, an atmosphere of excitement, unity and love was inevitable.
The Makarios Church is administratively divided into 7 regions and each of them represented different Ghanaian tribes; the Guan, Ashanti, Ewe, Mole-Dagbon, Fante, Dagomba, Hausa, Kuasi, Ga-Adangbe tribes.
Each Region had to creatively introduce the tribe they were representing, demonstrate the culture and give historical facts to educate the church members. Creativity and passion were at the rendez-vous, as they each came with elaborate displays, attires, dance moves and greetings in the respective languages. Indeed there is beauty and strength in unity!
To crown the power-packed service, Bishop Eddy refreshed us with a powerful message titled “How to improve your faith by meditation”. He drew our attention to the fact that faith unites us and anchored this with Ephesians 4:4 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all”.
He pointed out that although we all come from different regions, tribes and cities, the church makes it look more beautiful because of its togetherness. He sent us home, emphasizing that faith breaks boundaries and tribes and gives you a blessing in every land; all you need to do is believe and all things shall be possible!
