Lying at the extreme south western edge of Lake KIVU and in potential danger of limnic eruptions that constantly threaten the lives of inhabitants is Bukavu, the capital of the south Kivu province in the heart of Congo. And as if not enough, the city continues to suffer from the aftermath of the first and second Congolese wars, and is marked with a high rate of crime, youth gang activity, armed burglaries and lynching.

Dangerous by all standards, a place people will rather not be but not Jesus and definitely not the worldwide Healing Evangelist, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills. No city is too far, too small, too dangerous, too callous! And in 2020, soldiers in the Lord’s Army led by Apostle Enoch Ludwig were sent to BUKAVU with one aim with one message… Jesus!
Mood Changing Sunday Service at the First Love Church, Bukavu
“…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18). The gates of hell tried to frustrate the Bukavu Mission with issue after issue. In less than six months, the Bukavu church had to move to four different locations in the city. But the Word of God stands true. God always provided a hall for church services. And not just that, but this stirred up faithfulness in the members. The members followed anywhere and everywhere! Some of them even offered for their houses to be used. What attempted to destroy the church even made it stronger! Hallelujah!
Weekend after weekend, these soldiers walk through the streets of Bukavu to seek and save souls: the Mission of Jesus Christ. Souls are being saved, and lives are being changed through the ministry of Bishop Dag Heward-Mills. Apostle Ludwig and the Bukavu team are very excited to see what the Lord is doing in this city.
“We are believing God for better days ahead, and we just cannot wait to see Cathedrals all over Bukavu in this huge province. We can’t wait to put up churches in all the towns in South Kivu.
By the mighty power of God, the church that started with a handful of members is now bursting at the seams. Once a city of bloodshed and crime, the story of BUKAVU is changing miraculously, one soul at a time!
